Required Gear

The only thing you need to get the XLR Top Mount installed is a Philips J0 and Philips #1 screw drivers.

Optional Gear

Cold Shoe Mounts. Adding a metal cold shoe mount to your XLR Top Mount will allow you to quickly add gear without the fear of damaging your top mount over time. Here are a few options we like:

  • Cold Shoe Mount - Nothing fancy just a good old cold shoe mount with a screw!
  • Cold Shoe Offset Mount - This is a great option for larger receivers that need a little more room on the top of the XLR Mount.
  • Cold Shoe Dual Screw Mount - This is Caleb Pike's favorite, but it only seems to come with Nitze Handles like this one. Not a bad thing because their handles rock!

Just what I needed!

Was the final piece of my rig. Bought a second one for my B Cam. Excellent product.

Its Fine

Not super secure only mounting through the 2 mic screws. Only get a few times screwing in and out of the top plate because it is plastic. Smallrig has a more secure, functional version available that works with the Cineback Lite kit build.

Screws weren’t long enough

The screws weren’t long enough to get through the adapter and into the threads. Had to go to a local fastener store and buy longer screws. Not easy to find.

Hey Shawn! Make sure you are using the Sony screws that you removed from the top handle to attach the top mount NOT the included screws. The included screws are only for mounting the microphone clamp to our product.
