Turn your Canon R5 C into a cinema camera with CineBack™!

CineBack™ bolts onto the back or your camera cage giving you tons of mounting options, power choices and other features that you can learn about in the video and description below.

THREE Canon Cameras in ONE CineBack™! The R5 C CineBack™ is compatible with R5 C, R5 and R6 cameras. The R6 Mark II is not compatible and we will be testing the R5 Mark II to see if it fits soon.

Just add one of the cages mentioned below and you have a cinema camera!

CineBack™ R5 C Features

  • V-Mount battery plate for longer run time
  • Rotating D-Tap splitter with 4 outputs to power your camera and other accessories
  • Power switch to completely cut power so there is no battery drain
  • Screen side mount allowing you to use your camera screen in cine mode, open or closed
  • Top and bottom cheese plates for mounting accessories and other rigging gear
  • Cable management door and routing built in.
  • Modular with future accessories possible.

Required Gear

You only need one thing to get CineBack™ to work with your R5 C series camera is either the Tilta Full Cage for the R5 C (Model Number TA-T32-FCC-B) or the SmallRig 2982B Cage . We recommend the Tilta cage for the R5 C but if you have the R5 or R6, the SmallRig 2982B cage is required.

Optional Gear

Optionally you can power the camera from the D-Tap jacks on CineBack™ with either a D-Tap to FZ100 Dummy Battery or a D-Tap to USB-C with Power Delivery into the cameras USB jack. We've used the Alvin's Cable version as well as the Kondor Blue cable without issue and also really dig the Kondor Blue D-Tap to USB adapter.

Excellent

Haven’t done any real world testing yet, but the concept and build quality is pretty solid. Excited to use it.

Finally a R5C solution that isn't Wooden Camera

The Canon R5C Camera Foundry cine back system may be on the pricier side, but it opens up a range of options that were previously unavailable for this camera. Before this, the lack of proper cage options was frustrating, forcing me to settle for an unbalanced and subpar rigging solution. The inability to mount a Sachtler quick release plate was a significant drawback. With this system, I can now reuse gear from older cameras and fully realize the cine potential of the R5C. Most importantly, I'm finally able to attach the Sachtler quick release plate, avoiding the hassle of using Arca-Swiss style plates, which I find cumbersome. However, it would be nice if they included USB-C PD as a power option alongside the D-Tap, adding more flexibility for powering the camera. I would have paid a little more for that feature to be included. Instead now I must purchase a D-Tap to USB-C PD adapter and rig it to the system.

Thank you for the review and feedback! We've been looking into PD solutions so thanks for the added input! - Caleb Pike

A little dissapointing

For the price, I wasn't expecting a 3d printed block with a few components screwed onto it. I LOVE the videos from DSLR Shooter and the camera rig guidance, so I was really excited to see that embodied in a product. When I ordered, it wasn't clear that it didn't come with everything pictured. When it arrived, I was like "this is it?" Don't get me wrong, I like it, and I'll use it, but I was disappointed that it cost so much, AND I had to buy another cage (I had the "other" smallrig cage it it didn't like up right. Like, I'll probably end up designing and printing my own 3d-printed part. Also, the docs talk about features, but there's no instructions to let me understand what the intent of any of it is. Again, I like it, I was just surprised that it was so expensive and didn't come with the cage, that's even in the picture above here. I recognize this is still the early days of camera foundry, and cineback and I look forward to what's to come. But, I'm a little disappointed. If I had talked to someone and understood what I was going to get, I would have designed it myself.

Thank you for the feedback Mark! We will try to make it more clear what is and is not included with CineBack™ and thank you for the kind words. - Caleb Pike
