Required Gear

To mount CineBack™ Lite to you camera, you'll need either a 15mm rod system or some other way to mount the unit to your camera. Watch the video above to see how Caleb Pike recommends you do this using the following items:

  • Base Plate - This is how you'll mount your camera to rods. This SmallRig version is our favorite but if your budget is tight, this unit is the most affordable.
  • 15mm Rods - There are thousands of rod options on the market. Just choose a length, material and go! 8 inches is a nice small compact length for most of these rigs but you do you!
  • Quick Release - If you want to be able to quickly remove your camera from the baseplate, we recommend a quick release system. The Falcam F38 quick release is super fast or this SmallRig Arca Swiss option is also good with this unit being a little faster to release. Finally these Arca Swiss Clamps are the most affordable quick release option.

Just got mine! Love it so far

Just got mine!
Love it so far, i went with the Tilta 15mm baseplate, because i already owned it,
you just need two washers, to make it tall enough to work with the Canon R5C flip out monitor

Great concept, but I received a bad copy

I love the concept. And I wanted to work so badly however, the amount quickly release on my copy must be bad batteries get stuck andI have a hard time releasing them. They offered to send me parts that I would have to solder myself in order to fix it which I’m not willing to do. I’ll explore other options but use this for now. It’s OK as long as you’re willing to leave your battery on there all the time.

We send you an email which you haven't replied to before this review. Happy to make this right and thought we'd offer to send you a replacement plate for a faster install vs an exchange. Happy to go either route though. Just let us know :-)

Solid piece of gear and works as expected. Great quality that's to be expected from the brainchild of Caleb Pike. Nicely done!

CineBack Lite V2 all the way baby!

Camera Foundry have done an outstanding job with the V2, this is a seriously impressive upgrade for any camera rig. Every element has been rethought and improved, from the overall design to the finer details. The new 3D print material feels far more robust and premium compared to the original version, and the fit and finish are miles ahead. It’s clear a lot of care and user feedback went into this update.

What’s great is that you still get all the core functionality and clever features from the V1, but everything has been refined and optimised. It feels more solid, more reliable, and just better engineered overall. This isn’t just a minor revision, it’s a full evolution of the product, and it delivers.

On top of that, the customer service experience has been top-tier. I’ve had a few interactions with the team at Camera Foundry and they’ve been consistently helpful, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure users are happy with their products.

If you’re on the fence about upgrading or buying for the first time, I’d say go for it, this is a must-have. Can’t wait to see what else CF has coming down the line.
