Turn your Sony A7 Series Body into a cinema camera with CineBack™!

FIVE Sony Cameras ONE CineBack™! The A7 Series CineBack™ is compatible with A7s III, A7 IV, A7R IV, A7R V and A1. Just add the cage mentioned below and you have a cinema camera!

CineBack™ bolts onto the back or your camera cage giving you tons of mounting options, power choices and other features that you can learn about in the video and description below. You can choose to film with a boxy cinema setup or add the XLR Handle Extension Kit for a more documentary style setup.

Note that the A1 and A7R IV all have a fixed tilt screen so the screen will be block by CineBack™. Use Info Display to view the menu on an external monitor.

CineBack™ A7 Series Features

  • V-Mount battery plate for longer run time
  • D-Tap splitter with 4 outputs to power your camera and other accessories
  • XLR top handle compatible (with XLR Handle Extension sold separately here)
  • Power switch to completely cut power so there is no battery drain
  • Screen side mount allowing you to use your camera screen in cine mode, open or closed
  • Works with the Tilta ZV-E1 Fan module to cool your camera (A7 IV only)
  • Top and bottom cheese plates for mounting accessories and other rigging gear
  • Cable management and routing built in.
  • Modular with future module options to come

Required Gear

You only need one thing to get CineBack™ to work with your A7 series camera is the SmallRig 3667B. The SmallRig 2999 also works but isn't compatible with the XLR Top Handle Unit and requires a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter and some shimming washers which are included.

We recommend the SmallRig 3667B cage for reasons mentioned above.

Optional Gear

The XLR Extension Kit coupled with the SmallRig Adapter Plate for Sony FX30/FX3 XLR Handle allows you to use the Sony XLR-H1 XLR Handle Unit with the A7s III and A7 IV.

Another optional item is this Tilta cooling fan that can be mounted inside CineBack™ and can cool the A7 IV (not compatible with other A7 series cameras).

Optionally you can power the camera from the D-Tap jacks on CineBack™ with either a D-Tap to FZ100 Dummy Battery or a D-Tap to USB-C with Power Delivery into the cameras USB jack. We've used the Alvin's Cable version as well as the Kondor Blue cable without issue and also really dig the Kondor Blue D-Tap to USB adapter.

Often imitated, never duplicated

There’s a reason other companies are trying to replicate this device. The cineback is one of a kind and it’s the best at it too. Absolutely love this thing and the possibilities are endless!

Amazing Cineback!

Ordering this cineback rig has pushed my videography further than I thought it would. Ditching the gimbal and going strictly handheld for my wedding videography has given me much more creative potential to get different angles, adjust focal lengths and add much more depth to my shots since I am not restricted to the focal length I balance my gimbal to. This is a must buy!

Best cage I’ve seen for the A7SIII

It’s a very space efficient cage. Solid and thoughtfully designed. I haven’t shot with it yet, but first impressions are five stars

Cineback for Sony A7S III: A Game-Changer with Some Room for Improvement

The Cineback looks fantastic and offers real added value for my Sony A7S III through its V-Mount bracket, flexible display positioning, and well-thought-out cable management. Everything is now very compact, resembling a camcorder. However, it will take some time to find the optimal rig with all the power connections for the camera, monitor, microphone, light, Nucleus Nano 2 motors for zoom and focus, and the Tilta control handle. One challenge remains in discreetly managing the cables within the Cineback; a bit more space would be welcome. Additional USB-C ports would also be helpful. The Cineback is excellent, but the high purchase price, coupled with significant import duties when bringing it into Germany, should be taken into account. It’s also unfortunate that the XLR Handle Kit is currently unavailable—I’m eagerly awaiting its release and want to order it as soon as possible. (Reach out if you’re looking for an importer or dealer in Europe or Germany.)

Awesome product! I bout it to build an a7s3 rig and it fits perfectly. It simplifies the entire setup. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to build a rig.
